This was the first class I took in this program, and it did a wonderful job of laying out a framework on design. This class taught me that there are so many elements that going into what is considered a “good” design. It is important to focus on not only the larger elements, but the smaller ones as well.

For my final project I choose to implement some modifications on the dating app Hinge. When brainstorming this idea I attempted to put myself in the role of the user, and I wondered: How can I make this experience better? I was able to come up with a photo verification idea for the app, so that way users know the photo they swipe on is who they really are.

I would saying reading the book Don’t Make Me Think Revisited by Steve Krug during this class was very valuable for my EM toolkit because despite the name, this book really did make me think. There is so many factors to consider when designing such as age, culture, target audience, etc. and this book touched on all of them. I can’t wait to implement the knowledge I gained in this course throughout my EM Journey!
