I was on the accelerated one year path to earning this Masters degree, so this was only my second course in the program. Having received my undergrad in Public Relations, the language of coding was a whole new world to me! During this course I gained knowledge on how to create a basic website from scratch, utilize tools such as Bootstrap and WordPress, and even worked with Javascript. I’m excited to add all of these to my New Media toolkit because I think having knowledge of the basics of coding will help me go farther in my career. I feel that I am better suited to accomplish professional goals after this course because I will now be able to work with other team members in the field whose main focus is website design, and I will actually be able to understand their thoughts! Since I am on the accelerated pace and this was one of the summer classes, this course felt like an enormous amount of information in a very short time. I am certainly looking forward to working with coding more throughout the program, especially in the Fall when I will have more time to dive in!
For my Final Project I was able to combine all my skills to create an art website for my friend Emma! I loved getting to work closely with her to design something she ended up loving.
